A virtual community hub for Poundbury
The client
LovePoundbury is the virtual community hub for Poundbury in Dorchester, run by the Community Association of Poundbury CIC. It serves the people who live, work and volunteer in Poundbury, and helps fund community activities such as free sessions at the Pavilion in the Park for children and older residents.
The brief
A community website has a lot to hold: news, events, local services, membership, volunteering and more. It needed to feel welcoming, stay easy to navigate as content grows, and give residents good reasons to register and get involved.
What I built
- A clear structure built around how residents think: About, Living, Working, Volunteering, Support, What’s On and News
- Membership registration, so residents can join and access member benefits
- Event listings and news to keep the community up to date
- Local guides covering homes, shopping, education, health, sport, community groups and getting around
- A home for Poundbury Good Things, merchandise that supports community programmes
The result
Poundbury now has a single, welcoming place online for everything happening in the community, and, in Tim Wilmot’s words, working together from the first meetings through to launch and beyond was an absolute pleasure.
From our initial meetings to discuss the outline of what we were looking to do right through to the final launch and beyond, Elliott has been an absolute pleasure to work with.
